Mothers In Recovery Advocating for Change, Leadership & Empowerment

Mission Statement: To lead and empower mothers in recovery and to advocate for systematic change in how mothers in recovery are treated and viewed.
Vision Statement: To expand local resources and strengthen the supports available to mothers in recovery and the mothers fighting for recovery!
In 2022, a powerful connection was made—not by chance, but by purpose. Kirsten Puccio and Keri McCallum, both mothers in long-term recovery from substance use disorder (SUD), crossed paths and quickly realized they shared more than just a similar journey. They shared a calling.
Having once walked the difficult road of recovery in silence—isolated by fear, stigma, and the unique challenges of motherhood—they knew firsthand the pain of feeling alone. They also knew that no mother should ever have to face that journey without support, understanding, and a safe space to heal.
As they looked around their community, they saw a glaring gap: there were few, if any, spaces where mothers could openly talk about the deeply personal and often stigmatized experiences they faced—substance use during pregnancy, involvement with the Department of Children & Families, custody loss, and more. These were the stories that needed to be heard, and the women who carried them needed a place to be seen.
So, they created that space.
At Everyday Miracles Peer Recovery Support Center, located at 25 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01609, Kirsten and Keri launched a weekly support group designed specifically for mothers in recovery. Held every Wednesday from 10–11 AM during the center’s “Women’s Space”—a time reserved exclusively for women—the group offers a safe, welcoming environment where mothers can speak freely, without fear of judgment.
And from this vision, M.I.R.A.C.L.E. MAMAS was born.
This isn’t just a support group. It’s a movement. A community. A lifeline. A place where mothers can reclaim their stories, find strength in one another, and know they are never alone.
Kirsten Puccio and Keri McCallum are more than just co-founders—they are mothers, survivors, and passionate advocates for recovery. Both women are in long-term recovery from substance use disorder (SUD), and both are former patients of the Karen W. Green Clinic at UMass Memorial in Worcester, MA—an OBGYN clinic dedicated to supporting pregnant and postpartum women navigating SUD.
It was through this clinic, a place of healing and hope, that Kirsten and Keri first met. What began as a shared experience quickly blossomed into a powerful partnership. They recognized a deep need in their community: a lack of resources specifically designed for parents—especially mothers—who are walking the path of recovery.
From that realization, M.I.R.A.C.L.E. MAMAS was born.
Their mission was clear from the start: to create a supportive, judgment-free space where mothers in recovery could find connection, compassion, and community—regardless of the path they choose to take. At M.I.R.A.C.L.E. MAMAS, we honor and support multiple pathways to recovery, because we believe that recovery is self-defined. If you say you're in recovery, we believe you.
Both Kirsten and Keri are CCAR-trained Recovery Coaches, equipped with the tools and heart to walk alongside others on their journey. They believe that every mother deserves a chance to heal, to grow, and to live a self-directed life filled with purpose and possibility.
At M.I.R.A.C.L.E. MAMAS, we’re not just building a program—we’re building a movement. One rooted in empathy, empowerment, and the unwavering belief that recovery is possible for every mother.
